Elsie
is smart, sarcastic, spunky, and more than a tad bit cynical. She's
in her early twenties, a college graduate, works in IT, and loves
computers both inside and outside the office. She's not quite a
geek... but not quite not a geek.
Genny
Wilde
Genny
is Elsie's best friend and room mate. Her bleached blonde hair is
in constant need of retouching. She also works in a technical field...
as a nail technician. She's a dingbat who likes to think she's smarter
than she lets on. She's wrong.
Gavin
Gavin
is Elsie's cousin. In some respects, he's so much like Elsie that
Genny describes him as "creepy" and "undatable." But unlike geeky
Elsie, Gavin was a champion jock during his younger years, and has
never quite gotten past it.
Dell
Dell
is a computer and video game freak. After the dot-com fallout, he
realized it was more cost-effective to work in a video store and
get free game rentals than work as a programmer and have to buy
his own. Dell is also Gavin's room mate.
Keri
Keri
is Elsie's teenage sister. Her sole purpose in life is getting her
big sis in trouble with their mom. And boys. And shopping. And boys.
And stealing Elsie's clothes. And boys. Not necessarily in that
order.
Wanda
Wanda,
one of Elsie's co-workers, is clingy, possessive, whiny, insecure...
and can't figure out why that scares men away like the black plague.
She's met her "soul mate" in an internet chat room, but
never in real life.
Hoppy
& Marcus
Elsie's
co-workers, Hoppy and Marcus are the system administrators. Hoppy
is an aspiring under-achiever, in his ever-present backwards baseball
cap. Marcus is a total sci-fi geek, who will use any excuse to talk
about space travel.
Spencer
Spencer
is the neighbor's son. Elsie occassionally babysits the little tyke,
who proves useful in his ability to scare off unwanted dates, and
annoy Genny with his unfiltered, honest comments.
Jim
Jim
is Elsie's long-distance, on-again-off-again, sort-of, boyfriend.
He's currently serving overseas in the Armed Forces, and while they've
agreed to see other people, Elsie is having a hard time finding
someone who measures up.
Mom
Elsie
and Keri's mother is "Every Mom." She's an over-protective worry-wart
with one child, and too lenient with another. She's also very camera
shy.
